[ Music ]

Even though she doesn’t necessarily come across as the type to, Skyla actually listens to a lot of older music. It’s from her grandfather’s influence though- as all her memories of music are from him playing his radio while they worked out, or when they were just relaxing in his living room. Her favorite song from his collection of music, would have to be We’ll Meet Again. She happily remembers him singing along to this song whenever he would play it, and of course, gracefully taking her into his arms and make her dance with him around the living room.

She hopes that, maybe someday she can dance with her future spouse to that song as well.

Grounded

While growing up, Miles made sure that Skyla was disciplined.. Meaning if she acted out, she received the proper punishment- which was usually being grounded. Despite that punishment of being grounded, Skyla can’t really seem to relate to anything pertaining to the ground itself. She may be stubborn, but she can’t see herself entirely raising a Ground-type Pokemon (well, not counting her Gliscor); the idea of being grounded.. scares her. The Flying-type specialist is very much like the Pokemon she raises, and trains; free spirited, flighty, and easy going. She’s not.. anything like the way Ground-types are.

It kind of scares her, to be honest. She supposes it’s because the concept of being grounded just makes her feel trapped.

Maybe that’s also why she isn’t amazing friends with her fellow gym leader, Clay. As much as she respects him, he’s the total opposite of her. He’s.. kind of the very definition of grounded. At least.. that’s what she thinks.

What type would you specialize in if you couldn't choose flying?

“Water! Water Pokemon are really interesting.. but maybe Dragons! The possibility of having an entire Dragon team seems so cool!” She paused, blinking. “I hope that doesn’t mean I have to wear a cape though.”

“Whoooa! Is that you, Clay?!” Skyla beamed, eyes widening with surprise. Could it really be him? “Heyy! How are you?” The pilot greeted, smiling at the older gentleman. It was a rare occasion to see the gym leader outside of Driftveil City- due to the fact that he had a huge business to run, along with his gym. It was usually her visiting him in his own home town, but that was really all for business; she would typically deliver, and pick up cargo he had, or things that needed to be sent out to other cities in the region. She walked up to him, beaming all the while at seeing his familiar face around her parts.

“How are things going back in Driftveil for you? How about your business? I hope all is well!” She asked, tilting her head.

How powerful was your Grandfather as a Gym Leader?

“Huh, well this is really random, and out of the blue, but..!” She smiled, tapping at her chin. “When I was younger, my grandpa was still a gym leader, and I would watch him battle, and it was.. It was so wonderful. He.. was a very powerful gym leader from what I can remember. He didn’t use that many Pokemon, but I remember him actually having a Charizard on his team!” The pilot beamed, sighing soon after. “But, he’s getting a bit old now; most of his team was given to my dad, or my uncle, or they’ve passed on. We go to visit their graves every year..”

“But to answer your question, my grandpa was a very powerful gym leader back in his day. He used to give a lot of trainers a run for their money if they didn’t come prepared for his gym! Sometimes he would, actually feel a little bad because they couldn’t beat him on the first try, so he would actually give them a badge for effort, or coming close to beating him.”

What is your preferred training method outside of using your Gym's facilities, if any?

“Ahh’.. Well, I like to actually do training in the air~! I mean, I can fly my plane, or have my grandpa fly it, and then train them in the air. It’s quite fun, to be honest!”
